Atria
Client demands for open spaces flooded with natural light whilst wanting taller buildings with bigger floor plates gave rise to the atria space with overhead glass roofs and full height slab to slab façade glazing allowing huge amounts of natural light into the very core of the structure.
OAG have developed slab edge barrier glazing in both frameless and framed. These systems can provide smoke barriers and in increasing cases, a fire rated glass atria system again framed or frameless has been provided.
Glass barriers conforming to the BS/EN standards for barrier loads and fire requirements under BS/EN 1479 are all achievable using OAG's systems. With the innovations in decorative glass, OAG can add colour to these internal spaces with PVB coloured laminates, film manifestation and direct printing on the glass surfaces.
The design of an internal atria space gives the designer an opportunity in truly providing a frameless glazing system and when using the patented Optima Nebula™ glass to glass joint, minimal joint width between the glass panels.
OAG have designed atria lining to extend the floor plate, provide a bespoke design solution and now with coloured interlayers and printing images in laminated glass, internal decoration can also be covered in these atria designs. If fire protection or smoke containment is required, OAG can provide the details to overcome these design obstacles.
Where the design requires a vertical line emphasis or to offer long edge support for taller pieces of glass, framed atria designs can be developed using propriety curtain wall systems in either steel or aluminium.
OAG have created bespoke sections to achieve designers requirements with the emphasis in most cases being slim sightlines. With many office partition systems abutting these glass atria linings, OAG can offer interface solutions in conjunction with the Optima Partition systems and have created atria linings using Optima profiles.
Where fire protection or smoke containment is required, OAG can offer both frameless and framed solutions in both integrity and integrity and insulation fire ratings. Please refer to our fire section for further information.
