Fire Protection

Fire compartment within buildings is now regulated by BS/EN9999 parts 1 & 2 and clearly defines the requirements for fire strategy in building construction and refurbishment. Fire compartmentation within buildings is now regulated by BS/EN9999 parts 1 & 2 and clearly defines the requirements for fire strategy in building construcution and refurbishment. In many cases these requirements will place design restrictions on the designer although with OAG's experience in using glass as a fire barrier and our extensive knowledge of BS, EN and US testing data on glass and framing systems, many designs will be acheived.

Fire Protection

Using tested systems from Integrity only E30 to Integrity and Insulation EI120 and using glass as the barrier is our speciality. Framed or frameless, horizontal or vertical glass, we can assist with design development and cost planning.

Knowing the right Fire Rating

When specifying fire rated glass systems, the specific rating requirement must be known for the correct frame and glass solution to be specified. This brief guide may assist but the fire strategy engineer or District Surveyor will provide the required rating.

Fire Integrity Glass

Framed Screens

Fire Protection

For fire protection ratings from E30 to EI120 the options can include Steel framed curtain wall, bead fixed glazed systems or aluminium system dependant on the fire rating. Using systems such as Forster, Jansen, Wrightstyle steel systems or Schuco and Raico aluminium systems your designs can work with the requirements of fire protection.

Frameless Screens

Fire Protection

Where a more frameless look is required, we can offer steel perimeter framing with silicon glass to glass butt joints. Fire protection requirements from E30 to EI60 can be achieved and these systems provide the ideal solution when abutting non fire rated fixed screens such as atria or escape corridors. There are benefits from each system used and therefore we strongly recommend that we are contacted to ensure the ideal solution is specified.

Fire Doors

The test evidence for fire rated glass doors can be complicated and we recommend that you contact us for clarification prior to specification. Most fire doors will require an outer frame and a framed door leaf and as the fire rating increases, the requirements of latch closures and single action become more prevalent. The table below will give you a brief overview of available fire doors.
