Glass lifts and lift shafts add to the feeling of openness and OAG provides the expertise.
Getting into a lift used to be a claustrophobic experience. However, thanks to architectural glass experts like OAG, glazed lifts operating in all-glass lift shafts mean that the natural light that flows through a building doesn’t stop at the lift enclosure. You can get into a lift and as you go up or down look around into the building’s open spaces – such as the atrium and its balconies and balustrades.
Many structures these days have lifts operating in the atrium and OAG is a specialist when it comes to designing and assembling custom lift shaft glazing to perfectly match the look and feel of the building’s open plan architecture.
Sometimes, the lift apparatus operates entirely out in the open atrium space, with the cables and pulleys hanging out in the open air. There’s no actual shaft and the only glazing consists of the lift doors and a glass enclosure on the ground level preventing people from getting into the lift’s operating space.
Framed, frameless and bespoke lift area designs are all possible and our design team are happy to help you plan glazing for this area of your building project.
