Arups Fitzrovia
The new development for Arups combined a glazed roof light, balustrade with integrated spandrel panels, and a full height feature wall using glass designs by Alexander Beleshenko. In the roof, a low pitch was critical to ensure the project complied with planning restrictions on the building's height.

This project posed a number of technical issues, which we solved with a combination of design and manufacturing innovations. The atrium lining includes a combination of balustrade and full height glazing. The full height glazing uses Alexander Beleshenko's raised clear print enamel technique to produce the dramatic textured glass wall.
The successful execution of this project highlights how OAG's attention to detail and carefully considered interface detail design has allowed integration of a horizontal fire curtain system, and a completely concealed atrium cleaning gantry, which carries part of the atrium wall lining when in use.
The innovative nature of the 'Beleschenko' wall to the atrium required off site testing of the structural bond between the supporting steel bearers and the glass panels. After satisfactory test results were achieved, the panels were factory bonded to the bearers. The panels have fully exposed edges and feature a raised textured face with dual colour ceramic frit, requiring extremely tight tolerances throughout all manufacture and installation processes. Due to the unique design of each panel, the manufacture of spares during initial production was impractical. Therefore thorough planning of the delivery, distribution, installation and protection of the glass through to practical completion of the project was essential.
