One Finsbury Circus
One Finsbury Circus typifies the type of project where the diverse experience and expertise of OAG's design and project teams comes into its own. On the roof, this project includes a dramatic, large span structural glazed roof light, as well as replacement high performance double glazed linear rooflight, to update the original patent glazing.
To the external walls, various modifications to the facade required replacement windows, and cladding to blend with the existing works. Internally, a new feature atrium treatment involved the construction of lift glazing screens, balustrades and curved feature windows to new openings in the "Drum" Wall

Working within the restrictions of a refurbishment of a listed building is always testing. In particular, this project required update and refurbishment of materials and window systems that have been withdrawn from production. Extensive research, and a little bit of trial and error, allowed us to find compatible components to allow seamless integration of the new fenestration within the existing construction.
On the roof, a novel solution was required to provide safe access to the roof structure. OAG worked in close association with the glass system supplier to develop a "double sided" spider bolt, which transfers any load from the man safe system externally through to the spider brackets, without loading the glass. This is achieved with virtually no reduction in thermal performance, when compared with the standard bolt fixing assembly.
The bespoke roof was supported by elliptical beams (up to 18m long) which presented us with a unique tolerance challenge. Using the smallest possible boss on the structure (revised to accommodate out of tolerance steelwork) allowed the steel to be less obtrusive and with the stainless steel rod and truss system reduced to the minimum sizes allowable by engineering, the glass is the most visible feature within the atrium.
