Design Trainee

| Salary Negotiable PERMANENT
As a Design Trainee you will be part of the UK’s leading architectural glass specialist. In the fast track industry of commercial building, we pride ourselves in offering quality service and innovative design that allows our clients to create flexible workspaces. OAG has extensive experience in the design, development and installation of architectural glazing, balustrading, facade’s, curtain wall, atriums, fire glass products, glass roofs and floor systems. The successful candidate will have a desire to learn how to design structural and architectural glass, in various curtain wall systems, steel, aluminium and cladding materials.  Applications invited for summer 2017 intake.  This role is based full time at our High Wycombe head office. Essential skills / Experience  
  • As a trainee role, full training will be provided.
  • This role is suited to candidates educated to A-level or equivalent.
  • Minimum B grade GCSE Mathematics.
  • An interest / ambition to work in a design / technical role.
  • Experience with 2D or 3D CAD would be beneficial.
  • Eligible to work full time in the UK
  Responsibilities  
  • Design Trainees will follow a 2 year training plan. During this time you will receive training and support to learn the glazing systems, the statutory and advisory design codes and best practice methodology.  Working under guidance of a senior member of OAG’s design team you will learn how to:
  • Formulate a design brief from project handover
  • Prepare requests for Information / Query sheets as required, and monitor replies.
  • Produce Drawing Schedules, General Arrangement and Working drawings for Design team approval.
  • Provide 2D and 3D design information as required.
  • Design Review – revise and re-issue commented drawings.
  • Produce Fabrication information in the form of schedules, cutting lists or component drawings, as required, to an agreed program.
  • Visit Sites as necessary to ascertain conditions.
  • Be aware of current OAG project workload and project timings, Maintain progress as program.
  • Provide Design and Technical Support for all other departments as required.

ESTIMATOR

| Salary Negotiable PERMANENT
As an Estimator you will be part of the UK’s leading architectural glass specialist. In the fast track industry of commercial building, we pride ourselves in offering quality service and innovative design that allows our clients to create flexible workspaces. OAG has extensive experience in the design, development and installation of architectural glazing, balustrading, facade’s, curtain wall, atriums, fire glass products, glass roofs and floor systems. The successful candidate will have knowledge of glass, various curtain wall systems and steel and cladding materials.   ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge of specialist glazing and curtain walling
  • Commercially aware
  • Able to work efficiently and proactively
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor at intermediate level.
  • Able to deal well with people at all levels within their client as well as suppliers.
  • Eligible to work full time within the UK.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review tender enquiry documents
  • Take off quantities where necessary from drawings
  • Attend sites as required and take clients brief
  • Identify, prepare and send out enquiries for materials and sub-contract items
  • Receive and evaluate prices for materials and sub-contractors
  • Build up price using our estimating system
  • Liaise with BDM’s to ensure that any tender presentation is required in adequate time
  • Present the price for adjudication
  • Finalise any changes and submit price
  • Attend mid-bid and post tender meetings
  • Prepare handover documents once a project has been secured

GRADUATE TRAINEE

| Starting Salary £21,000 PERMANENT
As a Graduate Trainee you will be part of the UK’s leading architectural glass specialist. In the fast track industry of commercial building, we pride ourselves in offering quality service and innovative design that allows our clients to create flexible workspaces. OAG has extensive experience in the design; development and installation of architectural glazing a good grounding in balustrading, facade’s curtain wall, atrium glass roofs and floor systems. We require high quality staff to support our continuing growth plans and as a part of our recruitment planning we are seeking to recruit two Graduate Trainees to gain a thorough knowledge of the various disciplines within our business. This will include estimating, design, project management and quantity surveying and you will spend the first 12 months in each of these disciplines before being placed in a permanent role.Please note that we cannot employ anyone who does not have the right to work in the UK and we are unable to apply for work permits for individual jobs until UK & EEC resources have been utilised.In return we will offer you a competitive salary, benefits package, a challenging role and a rewarding working environment where no two days are the same.       ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:    
  • You will have received, or be expecting to achieve, a degree of at least 2:1 level, but the course studied is not as important as having the requisite personal attributes.

  • Eligible to work full time within the UK.
  • Must be able to get to the High Wycombe Head Office most days a week.

Project Designer

As a Project Designer you will be part of the UK’s leading architectural glass specialist. In the fast track industry of commercial building, we pride ourselves in offering quality service and innovative design that allows our clients to create flexible workspaces. OAG has extensive experience in the design, development and installation of architectural glazing, balustrading, facade’s, curtain wall, atriums, fire glass products, glass roofs and floor systems. The successful candidate will have knowledge of glass, various curtain wall systems and steel and cladding materials. Experience with 2D Autocad is essential, experience of Solidworks and / or Revit is advantageous.


With 3-5 years design experience in glazing, fenestration, cladding or similar industry, candidates will have the following characteristics:

      Responsibilities
  • Represent OAG design confidently at external client meetings.
  • Specify glass and glazing solutions
  • Competent detailing of standard systems, such as Raico, Schuco, Point fixed glazing
  • To know all relevant legislation regarding glass selection to be Building Regulation compliant, as well the guidelines issued by the CWCT.
  • To have a good working knowledge of the BS8300 and Part M legislation.
  • To be able to confidently predict program, and maintain progress against that program.
  • To be accurate with presented work, keeping checking time and rework time to an absolute minimum.
  • To be 100% compliant with the design procedure laid out within our ISO9001 document.
  • Provide a complete project design, using 2D and 3D cad, including General arrangements and details, component fabrication drawings, schedules, risk assessments etc.
