GRADUATE TRAINEE

| Starting Salary £21,000 PERMANENT
As a Graduate Trainee you will be part of the UK’s leading architectural glass specialist. In the fast track industry of commercial building, we pride ourselves in offering quality service and innovative design that allows our clients to create flexible workspaces. OAG has extensive experience in the design; development and installation of architectural glazing a good grounding in balustrading, facade’s curtain wall, atrium glass roofs and floor systems. We require high quality staff to support our continuing growth plans and as a part of our recruitment planning we are seeking to recruit two Graduate Trainees to gain a thorough knowledge of the various disciplines within our business. This will include estimating, design, project management and quantity surveying and you will spend the first 12 months in each of these disciplines before being placed in a permanent role.Please note that we cannot employ anyone who does not have the right to work in the UK and we are unable to apply for work permits for individual jobs until UK & EEC resources have been utilised.In return we will offer you a competitive salary, benefits package, a challenging role and a rewarding working environment where no two days are the same.       ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:    
  • You will have received, or be expecting to achieve, a degree of at least 2:1 level, but the course studied is not as important as having the requisite personal attributes.
  • In order to succeed you will need to be tenacious, able to quickly establish working relationships with a variety of people and thrive in a varied and fast paced environment.
  • Eligible to work full time within the UK.
  • Must be able to get to the High Wycombe Head Office most days a week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • To gain a thorough knowledge of the various disciplines within our business including estimating, design, project management and quantity surveying.

PROJECT SURVEYOR

| Salary Negotiable PERMANENT
As a Project Surveyor you will be part of the UK’s leading architectural glass specialist. In the fast track industry of commercial building, we pride ourselves in offering quality service and innovative design that allows our clients to create flexible workspaces. OAG has extensive experience in the design; development and installation of architectural glazing a good grounding in balustrading, facade’s curtain wall, atrium glass roofs and floor systems. The successful candidate will have knowledge of procurement of steel and cladding materials and glass be able to source various rain screen types and a understanding of curtain wall would be an advantage. ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction related subject or equivalent level.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor at intermediate level.
  • Able to deal well with people at all levels within their client as well as suppliers.
  • Eligible to work full time within the UK.
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Working knowledge of JCT 2005 & JCT 2011 contracts with and without Design Portion, D&B, and Fixed Price, and any NEC form of contracts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preparation of project budgets, checking projects contracts, administering projects Contracts.
  • Measurement of project to check quantities against tender allowances.
  • Preparation of tender documents for any sub contract works and specialist suppliers.
  • Set budgets for, and raise payments, for subcontract labour; manage variations as they occur; producing fortnight cost reports to their Clients.
  • Ensure an awareness of their key responsibilities under the contract; ensure regular agreement of site instructions with the client. Ensure payments are received on time in accordance with the contractual payment terms; ensure retention monies are released when due.
  • Carry out risk management in terms of project contracts and to ensure administration of the project is  adhered to.
  • Prepare and discuss the final account for projects with line manager. Negotiate and agree final accounts with parameters set by Line Manager.
  • Prepare monthly Cost Value Reports
  • Assisting, coaching and mentoring of junior assistants assigned to them for larger projects.
   

SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

| Salary Negotiable PERMANENT
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be part of the UK’s leading architectural glass specialist. In the fast track industry of commercial building , we pride ourselves in offering quality service and innovative design that allows our clients to create flexible workspaces. OAG has extensive experience in the design; development and installation of architectural glazing a good grounding in balustrading, facade’s curtain wall, atrium glass roofs and floor systems. The successful candidate will have knowledge of procurement of steel and cladding materials and glass be able to source various rain screen types and a understanding of curtain wall would be an advantage. Reporting to either a Commercial Director or Financial Manager the successful Quantity Surveyor will have responsibility for all commercial aspects on a number of projects particularly income and expenditure to maximise profit margins and monitor budgets. ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction related subject or equivalent level.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor at intermediate level.
  • Able to deal well with people at all levels within their client as well as suppliers.
  • Eligible to work full time within the UK.
