In a major step forward for low-carbon construction in the UK, we are proud to be working alongside Mace, GPE and Saint-Gobain Glass UK and Ireland on the landmark project at 30 Duke Street St James’s — London’s first commercial development to use ORAÉ® glass.
ORAÉ® is the world’s first low-carbon float glass with a certified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), offering a 42% reduction in embodied carbon compared to standard float glass from Saint-Gobain. Manufactured in the UK as part of the Glass Forever programme, ORAÉ® is made using a high proportion of reclaimed glass cullet sourced from the glass processing value chain and deconstruction sites.
At 30 Duke Street St James’s, we are installing all the above-ground glazing (equivalent to 35.6 tonnes) in ORAÉ® glass. This is projected to result in a carbon saving of approximately 20 tonnes of CO₂e a significant step in reducing the building’s overall environmental footprint. Beyond its sustainability credentials, ORAÉ® glass maintains the same visual and structural performance as conventional float glass, making it an ideal solution for high-performance facades.
