The Woolgate redevelopment is complete — a major office headquarters transformation in the heart of London’s Square Mile.
Designed by Stiff + Trevillion, this nine-storey renovation project redefines a commercial landmark through intelligent design, sustainable construction and bold architectural interventions – all while retaining 98% of the existing structure. The result is a modern, efficient and visually stunning workplace that sets a new benchmark for low-carbon refurbishment.
Delivering Innovation Through Façade Expertise
We played a key role in delivering the project’s extensive façade and glazing refurbishment, working across nearly every elevation and level of the building. Our brief included restoring and reglazing the existing glass windows, integrating a dramatic eight-storey glass atrium and creating new curtain walling and bespoke elements across terraces, entrances and rooftop spaces.
Scope of Works Delivered
- Reglazing and refurbishing 400+ existing windows, including on-site frame restoration
- New eight-storey glass atrium with a steel and glazed rooflight to maximise internal daylight
- Curtain walling to terraces and balconies using Hydro CIRCAL 75R recycled aluminium, supporting the project’s sustainability goals
- High-performance glass sliding doors, feature glazing and rainscreen louvres to the rooftop pavillion
- A new glass entrance on Coleman Street, complete with sliding doors and a canopy
- Strengthened aluminium framed main entrance, featuring revolving doors and metal detailing
- Bespoke architectural metalwork, including louvres, soffit panels, column casings, spandrels and more than 100 metres of copings
- Glazing to the new two-storey extension on Basinghall Street, including curved units.
Creating a Contemporary Workplace with Iconic Views
The reimagined Woolgate offers premium experience for modern occupiers. With 20,000 sq ft of external terrace space, a stunning rooftop pavillion and panoramic views across London – including St Paul’s Cathedral. The building now delivers both functional excellence and architectural impact. The upgraded public realm includes an expanded reception area on Basinghall Street and a striking new entrance on Coleman Street, creating a welcoming and accessible arrival experience.
A Sustainable Statement in Adaptive Reuse
Woolgate is one of the largest commercial refurbishments completed in London last year and a true showcase of adaptive reuse. By retaining the building’s core structure and introducing modern façade elements, the project significantly reduces embodied carbon and meets ambitious net zero targets – both in construction and future operation.
