Project Story
We transformed this 200-year-old building with a stunning new atrium whilst maintaining its marvellous regency character.
Our design and engineering teams enjoyed working on the stunning new atrium, all-glass wall-climbing lifts, and a curving double-glazed rooflight feature.
The atrium required a bespoke roof with a unique tolerance challenge. For cleaning and maintenance, it needed to be safe for workers to access. We designed the roof using elliptical support beams up to 18m long and a double-sided spider bolt system that transfers any external load. such as a man walking on the surface, through to spider brackets without testing the glass.
We did this with virtually no reduction in thermal performance and keeping the supporting metal to a minimum means that the glass remains the most visible feature of the atrium.
