Project Story
Towards the end of last year, we completed work at Q1 Kings Cross. Designed by Coffey Architects, this commercial building sits above the Network Rail Gasworks tunnels a short walk from Kings Cross Station.
BAM, the main contractor, brought us on to install fire rated staircase and lift lobby screens and secondary steel work with fire encasement.
This was a challenging project, due to the constraints of the tunnels and how the building was designed. Our in-house design and engineering team worked closely with the project’s structural engineer, to ensure the screens and steelwork met the lightweight building’s movement requirements.
“From the outset, we were impressed by OAG’s approach and engagement in developing bespoke design solutions for the complex structural geometry of 22 Handyside Street, whilst maintaining a strong attention to detail. As a result, the installation echoes the overall play on light and shadow within these key spaces further enhancing the building user’s experience.”
