76 Upper Ground (IBM)

Internal glazing elements to iconic Grade II listed 1980s building

Project Story

Designed by Sir Denys Lasdun in the 1980s, 76 Upper Ground (IBM) was Grade II listed in 2020. Architect AHMM plan to refurbish and extend the building, providing a flexible and sustainable office space within the South Bank conservation area.

The plan is to develop a highly energy efficient building, targeting both BREEAM Outstanding and certification under the NABERS Design for Performance standard with a 5-star rating.

We’re proud to have been chosen by Multiplex and Stanhope to design and install various internal glazing elements to the building.

The lift shaft enclosure will incorporate a hybrid system with Linit cord glass, manufactured by Lamberts using an oxyfuel glass furnace to reduce fuel consumption and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.

Between the ground floor and level 5, we will be installing glazing to the main stairs and multiple E30 and EI60 fire-rated and smoke retardant glazed screens.
