Project Story
In April 2012, London Mayor Boris Johnson opened the glass rotunda building at Croydon College, which has since become a major architectural focal point in the South London borough.
It’s an ambitious educational facility catering for 8,000 students aged 14 and up. We played a key role in its construction by meeting the challenge of designing, fabricating and installing its impressive, coloured glass walkway system, balustrades, glass doors and the frameless glass atrium inside.
The building project, worth £12 million, was designed by architects Nightingale Associates and we worked alongside the main contractor ISG.
Today, the glazed rotunda is the gateway to Croydon College Fairfield Campus. Inside, it has a double-height space below the ground floor, which houses the drama studios and music practice rooms. The upper levels are light and airy, with space for students and staff to move around easily via the glazed walkways that we designed.

Project Story Continued
Both the walkways and the atrium’s floor were made with coloured glass, forming part of Croydon College’s Wayfinding system. Each floor has its own colour, helping visitors navigate to where they want to be in the building.
