When the office block at 20 Gracechurch Street was redeveloped by contractor BAM, architectural practice. ORMS came up with a strong design concept for the glass elements of the entrance area, their vision was based on defined lines and margins.
Distinctive decorative glass was used for the wall linings, along with stainless steel trims. From the double-height entrance area, visitors move through open spaces where the white, opaque satin glass panelling gives a soft, light feeling. This is contrasted by the strong use of black back-painted glass which clads the central core.

The exceptionally tight radial curves required on the corner panels at the building’s lifts area meant a real challenge for us, both in terms of manufacturing and installation. Meanwhile, the visual theme designed by the architects required plenty of co-ordination and communication across the design teams involved.
