1 Victoria Street

We are proud to be part of the redevelopment of 1 Victoria Street, an ambitious project commissioned by Mitsubishi Estate in collaboration with Stanhope Plc. Situated in the heart of Westminster, next to the iconic Westminster Abbey, this transformation will breathe new life into this significant 1960’s office building.

Originally built in the 1840’s as luxury flats, 1 Victoria Street was later redeveloped as offices following wartime damage. Most recently, it served as the headquarters for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Now, it is being reimagined as a modern, sustainable commercial building, offering high-quality office above retail space at street level. 

The scheme comprises of 10 floors of commercial offices featuring bespoke glass curtain wall windows with distinctive triangular spandrels, prefabricated offsite and integrated into UHPFRC Donut Panels by Thorp. We are also responsible for installing the ground floor glass curtain wall with retail access, a striking double-height main glass entrance façade with revolving doors, timber soffits, balustrades, and plant screen louvres. 

Sustainability is at the heart of the project. More than 52% of the existing structure is being retained to reduce embodied carbon, and we are working closely with our supply chain to minimise the environmental impact of all materials used. The new building will incorporate low-carbon construction methods, high-performance facades, and modern MEP services, ensuring long-term efficiency. 

Maximising biodiversity, the redevelopment introduces green spaces and terraces on upper floors, along with extensive cycle parking and enhanced public spaces along Victoria Street. Thoughtfully designed to respect its historic surroundings, 1 Victoria Street will reinforce its connection to Westminster’s heritage while delivering a future focused, sustainable workplace.
